COMPANY EXPERIENCE

South Wales Electric is amongst the leading manufacturers and suppliers of transformer and switchgear in Sub-Saharan Africa. Registered in the then Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) in 1958, the company successfully commissioned a plant for distribution transformers in 1961. The company has grown with the expansion of the energy sector in the country. In 1971, a plant with capacity to manufacture power transformers up 50MVA, 132KV was commissioned. Since then the company boasts of a robust and reliable product that has
gained acceptance from power utilities within the SADC region.

BUSINESS OVERVIEW

The company is structured into three Business units, which focus on specific core areas of the business.

South Wales Electric – Harare Division

The Unit manufactures switchgear, distribution and power transformers. It also has facilities to provide full back up service and repair to transformers of different makes. It is headed by a qualified Electrical Engineer.

South Wales Electric – Bulawayo Division

The unit has facilities to manufacture, service and repair distribution transformers.

CORBZIM – The unit specializes in Electric Motor Rewinding.
